BRTC’s agriculture program provides students with educational experience in practical, theoretical, and technical applications of agriculture and promotes environmental, economic, and social sustainability. Courses include lecture and lab components, providing students with hands-on applications of classroom skills and knowledge. An education in agriculture prepares students with a general knowledge of potential food sources, life cycles and care of various animals, and technology in the field.

The 31 credit hour Technical Certificate in Agriculture is a part of BRTC’s stackable degrees in Agriculture. Students may obtain a Certificate of Proficiency, Technical Certificate, then the Associate of Science in Agriculture.. This gives an additional point of completion in the progression. All classes in the Technical Certificate may be applied to the AS in Agriculture.
This 6 credit hour CP prepares the student for CDL licensure.

Graduates of the program will find employment in many sectors of agriculture:
- agricultural finance,
- federal and local government,
- local co-ops,
- local businesses,
- landscaping,
- farm consulting,
- chemical sales, and
- local farming operations.
Internship opportunities may exist for interested students who are enrolled in the agriculture program at Black River Technical College. Some possible internships may be provided by
- Farmers,
- Financial Institutions,
- Landscaping Businesses,
- Poultry Industry, and
- Farm Implement Companies.
Information about internships will be made available through the Agriculture department coordinator.
