The Black River Technical College (BRTC) Adult Education Department recently received three awards from the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services Adult Education Department.
BRTC Adult Education Department received the Highest Measurable Skill Gains program with under 200 students, the Most Improved Measurable Skills Gains, and the Highest Number of Credentials Earned awards for the 2021-2022 academic year.
The highest number of credentials award recognizes programs helping students earn credentials to enter the workforce.
The measurable skills gain award is based off a measurement of the percentage of participants who, during a program year, are in an education or training program that leads to a recognized postsecondary credential or employment and who are achieving documented academic, technical, occupational, or other forms of progress, toward such a credential or employment.
BRTC’s Adult Education Department’s philosophy states, “The Adult Education Program at BRTC has as a foundation the belief that knowledge is the key to improving the quality of life. Education puts students in touch with the world around them, develops self-knowledge and promotes meaningful decision-making. The Adult Education Program attempts to increase student understanding of the value of education in gaining knowledge and developing skills necessary for a successful future.”
