Black River Technical College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Communications Specialist for the Office of Institutional Advancement (IA). This is a full-time, non-classified, 12-month position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Communications Specialist reports to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement and is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of a wide variety of communication and publicity initiatives for BRTC and the BRTC Foundation. Duties include coordinating all media inquires for BRTC and the BRTC Foundation; assisting the Marketing Specialist in maintain and enforcing college and Foundation branding; creating and disseminating all written publicity and press releases in print and digital mediums for BRTC, its departments and employees, and the BRTC Foundation; assisting IA staff including marketing and development with written communication and documents; managing BRTC and the BRTC Foundation website content and all BRTC and BRTC Foundation social media accounts; co-coordinating the organization, storage, maintenance, and access of IA’s digital images; editing photography as necessary; and assisting other IA members with IA activities such as marketing and development, as necessary.
Excellent written and oral communication, photography, and technology skills are required. Must be customer service-oriented, well-organized, and detail-oriented. Must be able to maintain confidentiality and meet strict deadlines. Must be able to function well in a team environment, be self-motivated, and possess critical thinking skills.
The formal educational equivalent of a baccalaureate degree in English, communications, journalism, or similar field.
