Black River Technical College Paragould works closely with local and state workforce development agencies and area economic development initiatives to serve the needs of businesses and industries within Clay, Greene, Lawrence, and Randolph counties in developing workforce programs which benefit both the workforce and employers.

Automation Technology
This 2-year customized program in specialized automation training will focus on Programmable Logic Controllers, industrial devices, and sensors used to control manufacturing processes and equipment. The Black River Automation Technology program will enable electrical maintenance, PLC technicians, and systems engineers to better understand and utilize their PLC technology, which will help them minimize downtime and reduce waste.
Electrical Apprenticeship
This 4-year apprenticeship program is structured system of training, designed to prepare individuals for occupations in skilled trades and crafts. Apprenticeship combines related classroom instruction with on-the-job training under the supervision of experienced and licensed workers. Workers who complete apprenticeship training programs can expect to hold good jobs at good pay! Their skills are a source of personal satisfaction as well as employment security. Statistics show that apprentices earn higher wages, have more stable work records, and are promoted sooner and more often than workers who have not been trained through apprenticeship training programs.
Industrial Maintenance Technician
This program is designed to strengthen the knowledge of current and future maintenance technicians. Students attending this 9-month program will gain skills in math, print reading, industrial hydraulics, mechanical maintenance, electrical safety, preventative maintenance, electrical schematics, AC Circuits and transformers, DC circuits & fundamentals, motor controls, power supplies, programmable logic controllers, maintenance welding, and more. This training will be delivered by field-experienced instructors 2-days a week for 9 months. Pharmacy Technician – Online
This 14-week online Pharmacy Technician course will prepare students to enter the field of Pharmacy and to pursue national certification. The need for Pharmacy Technicians continue to grow with demand expected to increase substantially through 2020. Approximately 420,000 technicians were employed in 2018. Employment of Pharmacy Technicians has 7% growth projections each year through 2028. Students will learn Pharmacy Calculations, medical terminology, skills necessary to read and interpret prescriptions, review of the top 100 drugs and the skill necessary to identify drugs by brand and generic names. Six Sigma Certification
Black River Technical College, in conjunction with GCITC, is offering a six sigma certification program. We will offer both the Green Belt Certification and the Black Belt Certification. Not only will participants receive a Black River Certification by completing these courses, participants will also be prepared to take the ASQ certification exams.
Structural Steel & Pipe Welding
The Black River Technical College Advanced Pipe Welding Program will teach you the skills you need to get on the job quickly and start gaining the experience that will help you refine your skills and become one of the specialists companies are seeking. The profession of welding allows a person to fit into many different career paths due to the demand for those proficient in the art of welding. The program starts with fundamentals and ends with advanced concepts. Thus, the program can serve both beginners and individuals with welding experience who want to improve skills and pay-grade. Due to the curriculum being progressive, a student will be exposed to many areas of welding through classroom instruction, as well as, hands on experience in the welding lab.

The Greene County Industrial Training Council and Black River Technical College recognize that business and industry have the need to approach the development of their workforce and leadership team in a manner that meets each organization’s vision and culture. This is why we have developed the Corporate University structure. Each organization can focus on development plans that meet their strategies for building their leadership teams that help gain and maintain a competitive advantage. Our Corporate University offers a three tiered structure to develop and sharpen leaders at every level. Each tier offers ideas for development, with the ability to customize specific development requests. Each organization can design their own development matrix. The tiers focus on executive level leadership, supervisors and front-line leaders, and emerging leaders that are beginning to mature into potential leadership candidates.
