BRTC Awards the Leondus and Gladys Brown Baker Memorial Scholarship to Emily Throesch

POCAHONTAS, AR October 25, 2019 – For the Fall 2019 semester, Emily Throesch of Pocahontas was
awarded the Leondus and Gladys Brown Baker Scholarship, provided by Larry Baker in memory of his
parents Leondus and Gladys Brown Baker who one resided at the Rice-Upshaw house in Dalton.

The $200 Leondus and Gladys Brown Baker Scholarship was created by the Larry Baker family in memory
of Larry Baker’s parents, Leondus and Gladys Brown Baker. The scholarship is awarded to Black River
Technical College students with priority to those who live in the Dalton and Randolph County area.
Students must have a minimum 2.75 GPA.

Emily Throesch is a 2013 Pocahontas High School graduate. Throesch is married to her husband, Ryan,
and is pursuing a degree in respiratory therapy.
