Black River Technical College, Paragould campus, was a nominee for the Elijah and Emma Agnew Advancing Equality in Higher Education award with the Craighead County Chapter of the NAACP. According the chapter’s website, “This award has been named for the Agnews because of their dedication and continual work in furthering the education of all.” Attending the Freedom Fund Gala 2022 on September 24 was BRTC’s Executive Director of Paragould Operations Priscilla Stillwell.
Inclusion and diversity at BRTC is overseen by not just one person but a committee. It is led by Vice President of Student Affairs Jason Smith and includes individuals from the community who represent diverse groups and provide suggestions and direction to the college: Pat Johnson, representing the African-American community; Raul Blasini, representing the Hispanic and Latino community, and Darrtu Mimi , representing the Pacific Islander community.
