POCAHONTAS, AR Aug. 25– Black River Technical College recently acquired eight new ABB Robots through a Regional Workforce Grant. BRTC received three models: ABB 120, ABB 140, and ABB 1300 models.
Industrial Electricity/Electronics students as well as Workforce, Corporate, and Community Training students on both BRTC campuses will have the opportunity to learn how to program these robots which are used in manufacturing facilities across the country.
Jack DeLoach, Electricity Instructor, Patricia Sanderson, Workforce Program Development Coordinator, and Susan Shanlever, Business Instructor, completed Level 1 of the ABB instructor training to become fully certified ABB robotics trainers.
Phillip Dickson, Dean of Business & Technical Education, states, “I feel the ABB robots will be great additions to BRTC’s Industrial Electricity/Electronics program as well as great additions to Workforce, Corporate, and Community Training. Students will gain the skills required to operate robots; these skills will make them employable by numerous manufacturing facilities, which will help satisfy a workforce need in our area.”
