POCAHONTAS, AR  Oct. 17, 2019 – Early this fall, BRTC faculty and staff chose an alumni member they felt is exemplary to serve as BRTC’s Outstanding Alumni.  They named Tom Hazelwood, plant manager for the former American Railcar Industries, Inc., (ARI), now Greenbriar, in Paragould.

On Tuesday, October 15, Tom was honored at the Arkansas Community College (ACC) Outstanding Alumni & Academic All-Star Awards Brunch in Little Rock at the ACC Annual Conference.  The outstanding alumni named at the other 22 public Arkansas 2-year colleges were also honored that evening.

Tom has worked for ARI since 1985 and has worked his way up on the company.  He has managed the paint sh

op, was a railcar repair specialist, the continuous quality improvement coordinator, and the manufacturing manager.  He was promoted to plant manager in February.

Tom is married to Sherry and they have 3 daughters and several grandchildren (located center in the photo below).  He is a native of Paragould and pastor of Peace Tabernacle Paragould.
