BRTC’s 2020 Outstanding Faculty Member Announced

POCAHONTAS, AR. Nov. 3— Monday, October 12, Jessica Alphin, Director of Clinical Education/Respiratory Instructor, was honored at the Arkansas Community College (ACC) Outstanding Faculty and Awards Banquet. The outstanding faculty and staff named at the other 22 public Arkansas 2-year colleges were also honored.

Alphin is the Director of Clinical Education at Black River Technical College. She is a 2003 graduate of this program and began serving as an adjunct clinical instructor for BRTC in 2008 before being hired full-time in 2013. Jessica has been instrumental in the growth and success of the Respiratory Care program at BRTC. She works tirelessly with the students to ensure they acquire an excellent theory and clinical education and often tutors students on her own time. Jessica teaches across allied health disciplines, assisting with simulation, and is a certified BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP Instructor. She has served BRTC by offering her insight and expertise on multiple committees, as an Assessment Champion, and is currently active in the College Administration Council.

In addition to being an excellent instructor, clinical liaison, and student advocate, she continues to represent her profession by serving as a former President for the Arkansas Society for Respiratory Care and current member of their Board of Directors as the Education Committee Chair.  In addition, she chairs the annual Cystic Fibrosis Walk. She is a member of her national and state professional societies and in 2015 was voted as the Outstanding Respiratory Therapist and the Respiratory Educator of the Year by the Arkansas Society of Respiratory Care. She is also an active member of the Political Advocacy Team and represented Arkansas in Washington, D.C.

Jessica is actively involved in her community through her church membership and activities as well as her service to the American Cancer Society and the Relay for Life. We are proud to have Jessica as a member of the BRTC Team!
