Sonia Fonticiella Keynote Speaker for BRTC Law Enforcement Training Academy Graduation

Black River Technical College’s (BRTC) Law Enforcement Training Academy (LETA) Director Jared Bassham, is pleased to announce the guest speaker for the Spring 2023-A LETA graduation will be Sonia Fonticiella.

Fonticiella is the first woman and Hispanic Prosecuting Attorney in the State of Arkansas. She represents the 2nd judicial district.

Fonticiella was born in Paragould, Ark. She is a first generation American and daughter to Cuban immigrants. She graduated from Florida State University in 2006 and the University of Arkansas School of Law in 2009. She founded Fonticiella Law Firm in 2011.

In 2012, she moved to Little Rock where she was accepted into the Criminal Justice Act Panel Mentor Program offered by the Federal Defender Office of the Eastern District of Arkansas. Through the program she found her love of criminal law.

In 2022, Fonticiella was elected Prosecuting Attorney for the 2nd judicial district, taking office on January 1 of 2023. She, her husband Justin Hagood, and the couples’ six children reside in Paragould.

The BRTC LETA Spring 2023-A graduation will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 13 at the Randolph County Development Center at the BRTC Pocahontas location. Graduation is open to the public and will be streamed live on LETA’s Facebook page.
